The Other Side of Yesterday…

You only live once, so why not give this the most effort ever? Why not play to win?

So here we are, on the other side of yesterday. Something new is supposed to happen; but what? Something evolutionary is supposed to take place, or something is over, the end. Each year we experience this “thing” where we make overtures such as “out with the old, in with the new” or we make vows and resolution as and claims, and as we get older and reality sets in a little more, the intentions grow or die off. The momentum languishes or there’s a spike. The vision is clear or cloudy. But here’s the greater truth: all of these are choices. Your decision to rise or fall, to grin or frown, to imagine or forget is exactly what you will experience. The practice of this exercise and the routine of putting it to work for change and progress and energy is all in your hands. I started today, deciding to wake up by 5am; no excuses. I’d achieve more, have time to read, eat breakfast, meditate and plan. So what are you determined to see as a routine?

What Are You Up To, Relentless?

You bet your ass I’m pursuing greatness and sowing into my passions; my passions for writing, for raising awareness, and for Superpreneurship

You only live once, so why not give this the most effort ever? Why not play to win?

But while thats my current engagement, I find myself leading a group of driven personalities of every type. Including myself, we all got issues, we all got skeletons, and we all got some measure of smoke & mirrors goin on. That said, we all still strive for authenticity. The clarity above all else is always this: we must do the most productive thing within the 24hours we’re given. We must be as resourceful as possible with our time & talents. And equally as important, we must stay healthy and informed as we grow and mature and remain relevant. This is life as we know it. This is our “now.” This is the nuts & bolts of our “why.”

During this journey, smile, improve and don’t bullshit me.

SOUTH SIDE of MT. VERNON, NY:

This is the property lately, although when we lived here there was so much more life. No boarded up properties. No “insurance-fires.” Jeff Dixon (now Luda’s manager) lived next door, to your right of the deli. To the left, further down the block was the infamous “Gilmore’s,” where men relieved their desires (in one way or another.) My novel TOPLESS explains it all… Dad sold the house on the North side of town to invest in bullet-proof glass for his new liquor store. The liquor store was attached to the deli, and at AGE TEN I was the free labor; at times operating BOTH the Deli and the Liquor Store when Dad went out for “errands.” (Its no wonder I have 2 younger brothers who were sired “outside” of the family/ different mothers). I lived here till about age 17. My next street address was Parris Island, South Carolina. “Ooooorah!”

Knowing John “Doc” Fuller

JOHN “DOC” FULLER MIGHT AT FIRST THROW YOU WITH HIS “PERFECT SPEECH” AND HIS AUTHORITATIVE DEMEANOR. After all, he did have the nickname “Doc.”? But in prison, (where I networked with Doc and spent quality time getting to know him, getting to co-habitate with him, and of course the 2 of us maintaining our survival skills), it is said that a man can be “whoever he wants,” meaning that many of us were dreamers in prison, elaborating on our true life experiences, no way to qualify or confirm what we say. The only thing in fact that we do as prisoners, is we absorb the real-time human nature that was our reality. Human nature speaks to the gestures and mannerisms and practices of those around you. Human nature speaks to your expressions, your interests, and reactions to certain events such as arguments & fights, overtures in large crowds or in response to some tv sports… even in response to invocations of authority/another inmate being cuffed and taken (or dragged) away to the “hole,” that prison within a prison… and of course, there was always how we dealt with coped with and endured the loss of liberty. Well, its clear to folks (now) how I spent my prison hours. Picture me with a pile of ink pens and a stack of lined paper, and determination to fill those pages with whatever spilled from my mind… picture my legs shaking during these moments and going thru the jitters as if in withdrawal as I poured out and birthed ideas that people would someday read and react to. Well, rewind to how we were such dreamers and you can pretty much tell what Doc and I were doing with our time; perhaps planning, maybe imagining, and often drawing up blueprints that might (or probably) become reality. And our now-reality; me the award-wining author with the connects to cut the checks, and doc, the go-to guy for just about every and anybody who enters the prison system… constantly relevant, now an author himself, and our bond just as strong/if not stronger since we both not only walked the walk, but survived to tell it and make a living from it. This is a moment you can only call PRIDE and BLESSED and CONFIRMED. Congrats to my brother from the inside John Doc Fuller… lets all keep up the good work that the quote BOLDLY PAINTED at the exit of Baltimore City Jail “NEVER AGAIN” didn’t quite explain.
Thanks Doc for the shout out in your book… not simply a dedication but a damned page! Wow. Bro you keeps it realer than the ones who we EXPECT to keep it real by default! Blessed to know you fam.

Below are screenshots from Doc’s Book:

Just a note of appreciation to all of you who are connected to me in various ways and means. Great things are happening in my life, and I’m encouraging our universal God to usher the same to you and your loved ones. God bless you and thank you for your well wishes and connectivity.

damsil in distress atlanta 1

So as she packs her shit to escape her current circumstances… to escape the man who’s had her captive in his apartment for one month… the man who lured her from her comfortable & secure living conditions in Oregon,

I sit here (the rescuer), all-too familiar with this story, how it started with great expectations/great sexual release,

and how it ends in betrayal and control and ultimate desertion. After all, have you not read “Topless?” Wasn’t this the case with one of the strippers who was “brought” to Canada? And wasn’t “Brice” also very controlling like this in “Rappers R In Danger”? Been there, done that, here with my cape on… and a new administrative assistant. Let’s go: next chapter

Stories From The Real Life Relentless Journey 1)#

As I think about the past and what it took to get me to this place I call home; this comfortable shelter where I can refine my vision and my purpose, I think about all the faces and all of the places where I made that connection. I was so focused that I probably missed some of the jewels, some of the rich experiences that faced to me, but then who’s to say what destiny has in store? I just feel I’ve been so blessed to know so many people from so many walks of life and I Mabel to bring them together underneath the umbrella of my stories, my characters and the landscapes where they take place. There was this one time when I was in New York City working late night on a weekend, with hordes of people milling through the streets, trying to find footing along that hard cement underneath those sensational images on the screens of times Square… hustles to the left and hustles to the right, nobody realizing how dangerous this all was and that people are out to do harm in large crowds… and yet here I was with my hustle, selling my books and to hand mouth to ear vision to reality. There was this one woman approaching in the thick movement of skin and bone and wonder… I had The Last Kingpin in hand/pitching it relentlessly to every and anyone with an earshot. And this White woman says “great book!” as she passes me. My reflex was an instant response “thank you!”
If you could’ve seen this woman’s face how she twisted it with disbelief, cocking back her head at the same time and all I heard in that gesture was “who the fuck do you think you are?” But just as some may see that as a rude way to be it was just as much a rude awakening for me, realizing that my content not only reaches the most unpredictable reader, but also that my work is such a disconnect from who I am and the journey I must realize.
An excerpt from “The Last Kingpin

Slim just got pulled over by the local police. The local police called the DEA…

Okay, Slim. I want you to be honest with me, because this answer will decide your fate. You’re an independent contractor. You deal directly with the buyer and the seller. I have an idea that your buyer and your seller of the corn are unsavory fellas. Not your average farmer. Not your average grocerier. I want to know what was going through your mind when you met these people. Where you met them? How much they offered you? And, if the amount of money was also unusual, didn’t you get suspicious? Why did you go along with this… this shipment? Was it the money?”
Listen, Miss. I’m a truck driver. If you need something delivered — anything but a baby — I’ll deliver it for you. Yes, I’m guilty.”
Pam changed her expression to “oh really?”

“…I hauled garbage right before I hauled produce, but I ain’t crazy. I wouldn’t carry no drugs on my truck. And, if I knew about it, I… well… ain’t no way for me to know, simple as that. But, as far as money… ain’t enough money in the world to keep me from my wife Jewel and our little Slim Junior. No money!” Pam let some silence pass between them as she continued to look into Slim’s eyes. If he looked away, if he digressed, she’d turn him back over to the dogs and leave him there to handle his own problem. Instead, she’s go check on the corn hustlers. A fed case wouldn’t stick on Slim on account of the illegal search. The pretrial motion would find the case tossed out the door before opening arguments… even before a jury was selected. A waste of time and taxpayer’s money. But, on the other hand, if Slim kept his poise, if he could maintain eye contact and that sincere expression, with no fidgeting, no unnecessary sips from that empty soda can, then Pam knew he’d be telling the truth. She would wield her raw power to have Slim set free. She’d be his godsend. His relief from a long night. But then, of course, she’d need his help with one minor task.

“Tell you what, Slim. I want you to give me the details of your contacts on this shipment. Show me how your manifesto corresponds with your hours logged, and how your bills of lading match with your contacts. I want every detail down to the mustard seed. I’m gonna see that you walk out of here within the hour, on my magic carpet.”
“What about my tractor?”
“You can have everything but the…” Pam looked at Carson. Carson looked at Masters. Masters looked back at Pam. “Hey Slim. I have an idea. Are you still in shape to drive?”
“Sure am. I might need another one of those Coke a’ Colas, but I think I can manage.”
“Great,” Pam replied, with a note of conspiracy in her voice that the other Agents immediately understood.
Before leaving Bell Glade that morning, Pam threatened the locals, informing them of certain legal repercussions for the illegal search and the subsequent assault. Furthermore, there’d be a publicity nightmare relating to racism, a backward police procedure and the

questions about so much coke along with speculation about other such shipments. Pam only cared to keep the incident a secret so that she could catch herself a whale.

And so from time to time I will drop my stories on my timeline or in my blog for all to see and decipher and learn from and enjoy.

Identify Your Skillset, Create a Product or Service & Crush it with a TEAM!

  1. Alternatives To Success: identify your skill set, crush it with your own raw energy, get bank like hank
    1. Identify your skill set, your talent, your abilities and your value.

What’s Your alternative? Master your energy and develop your voice. It costs nothing but time and energy and you need to do some work in order to achieve your goals. Nothing comes for free.

2. Create a product that is all about you, your mind, your ideas, your visions, experiences, knowledge, inspiration, advice, imagination, even your physical strength.
What’s the alternative? Partner with a vet! Be an apprentice to someone who’s already done it. Someone who is crushin’ it. Someone who’s opening doors for you. Be of great value to the king of your particular industry. In other words: “ride the tiger”

3. Finally, finally, finally: build your fellowship. Your tribe, your family, your team, your online & offline allegiances. You can’t move faster and farther on your own. You must have help with your agenda.; there are only 24 hours in a day and to do so or to think you can do so is a pigment of your imagination and a futile effort. Sure, you may get away with it at first… Sure you will enjoy the liberty in the freedom of doing it on your own with no excuses and having to answer to nobody. But at some point you’re gonna need to trust somebody. At some point you’re going to need to pay for the skills that are necessary to fine-tune your machine. That could be an accountant, a business manager, a partner, or a personal assistant. If you don’t have any of this and you have a glimmer of success you’ve achieved, there’s going to be a moment when you question whether or not you are achieving the maximum potential that’s possible within this time and space in the 24 hours you’ve been blessed with?

So what is the alternative? Join a fellowship, a tribe, a family team… Show your value in that allegiance and achieve more! Look at how the ant world does it. Look at how basketball or football teams do it. Remember the pyramids? It took legions of workers on a mission… it took BELIEVERS! Find your believers or BE A BELIEVER! (Choose one!) and remember TEAM-together everyone achieves more!

Here’s a head-start to earn residual income;

When life knocks you down…

This 27yr old brotha from Louisiana came to ATL a few days ago, had his Cadillac stolen (and all of his personal belongings), and it was on me to help nurse him back to economic, mental and spiritual strength. I told him in a Text that next morning after the car theft:

Family…We gone get you back to good financial health. But you gotta eat. And you gotta shake that shit off. You gonna get your car back and you gonna start work tomorrow. So pick that chin up and let’s go hard. I gotchoo”

The peril of it all… the shock… come to find out the car (and his belongings) was fully insured and he’s gonna be stronger because of this. We all are. He’s smiling today, on his way home and vowing to return in less than a month. Stay strong out there. Murphy is always lurking; but life always has better in store for you when you’re receptive. “Get knocked down 6, get up 7.” #movie
